Sales Policy
Deposits
If you are seriously
interested in one of my horses, you may want to be prepared to make a deposit
upon your visit to ensure the horse is not sold prior to arrangements for
purchase being made. It is also normal procedure for buyers to send a deposit
prior to their visit to ensure the horse will not be sold before they can come. My horses tend to sell very quickly and for this reason I regret that I
cannot hold any of my horses or give preference to any buyer without a
deposit.
Deposits are equal to 10% of the advertised sale price and will entitle the
buyer to right of first refusal of the horse for a period of time no to exceed
14 days. Once the deposit is made, the horse will not be sold to another buyer
for the agreed time period, allowing enough time for arrangements for a visit,
vetting and/or purchase to be made.
Deposits can be made by cashier’s check, wire transfer or
cash. All deposits are non-refundable; the sole exception being where a
veterinarian deems the horse unsound and unsuitable for the intended purpose.
Should this occur, formal release of the veterinary report, including all
documentation used to arrive at the decision (x-rays, etc); will be required
prior to the issue of a deposit refund.
Pre-Purchase Examinations
I welcome an optional veterinary examination on any of our horses prior to
purchase. This may be performed by a veterinarian of the buyer’s choice and may
be as thorough as desired. All costs associated with the pre-purchase exam are
the buyer’s responsibility.
